This is a question Down on the Farm

Have you ever been chased from a field by a shotgun-wielding maniac? Ever removed city arseholes from your field whilst innocently carrying a shotgun? Tell us your farm stories.

Lamping
If anyone here knows what lamping entails than I'm sure you'll understand. I always managed to avoid the regular lamping trips my mates would take as the many stories of 'shooting bunnies/squirrels/foxes/badgers in the face' just didn't appeal to me. The one time I went I decided I would never go again. Farmers are funny folk.

Lamping?
Is that shooting at night with torches?

*taps tip of nose with index finger*

Not sure what that means either.
So does "Lamping" mean shooting animals at night or picking one's nose?

Into the countryside at night...
..throwing torches at the wildlife.
(, Tue 29 May 2012, 18:44, closed)
...by torchlight.

That gesture means "on the nose" or in simpler terms, "exactly".
Lamping is done with a powerful torch at night, many nocturnal animals freeze in the light, and also because they're blinded they cannot see you. It means you can get up real close and get a good shot.

Ok, thanks.
"shoot them in the face" sounds like wildlife bukkake.

The animals don't get much of a chance
it's cheating really and no decent results, just a bloody mess. A wee rabbit facing a shotgun from 4 metres is literally blown out of existence. No meat is gained.

Well yeah its pest control with a twist. I would think a small bore rifle more appropriate than a shotty though.

But my mates are brutal, they'd use grenades if they had them
The arsenal they possess between them all could fend off zombies for years, plus Ray Mears lives close by and has constructed all sorts of shelters over the land, which are amazing to explore. He teaches courses in the woods on this particular farm.

Not really.
shooting stuff with a rifle* is rather illegal. Shooting stuff with a shotgun isn't.

*unless you're licensed to cull**

**James Bond's less successful etc etc

Orly? Didnt know that. Even on your own land, when its just pest?
I know using air rifles is ok for small rodents and some birds.

Thanks for informing us about not having any tales to tell.

Lamping?
Is that when you go out into fields and help sheep have their babies?

Ejaculating over the faces of wild animals, by the sounds of things

Some of the guys I was at school with
used to lamp from the flatbed of a battered HiLux with spots on the roll cage. While pissed.

One of them happened to let his gun hang by his side, unbroken, just as the driver hit a fuck off ditch. Amazing what damage a shotgun can do to a foot.

Lamping - mostly for idiots.
