you can't call the canteen lady 'the canteen lady'.You have to call her the canteen worker. Even though she is clearly a lady. Called Joyce.

To the point where people are so worried they migh offend one another, they apologise after every slightly risque joke. Apart from in my office, where we all happily call each other bastards and there is a clear North/South divide.
