I think first you should watch his other videos and then make any judgment you like
However it will be a judgement based solely on about 18 minutes of footage..
You my friend have blinkers on, I know him, I know all my students. I work with people that don't even know how to access youtube and it's your type of mentality of jumping to conclusions that ruins THEIR education and leaves them like the muppets I work with.
It's a generic point I make now and I apologise, but here goes.
My students are some of the most intelligent and well adjusted humans I have ever Met. However yes they are doing an IT course they come to us with the ability to upload vids to youtube, but so can my dad who is 61 today and had had 2 strokes. What they cannot do is use any software package that requires a bit of thought, cannot interrogate a database or even a spreadsheet, and they know only what they need to know. And that I think is amazing.
His future will be bright as already is. But that's because I know him

you say you are teaching a course in IT.
i am guessing this is as we all understand it... Information Technology?
by the looks of things, you are not teaching a third world country without access to the internet.
from what i have seen, by you posting this here... you are not qualified. full stop.
it is not about 'knowing' your students... you for some beyond fuck all if i get reason, thought you should share it HERE.
look around... do a google search. if it were my son whose video was posted here, (without his OR my permission) i would be down at the headmasters office, asking him to be removed from your class.
as this is NOT some anonymous vid linked here, you have identified him as one of YOUR students. full stop.
now seeing as you are teaching a course in IT as you claim...
YOU should be TEACHING YOUR students that what goes on the net stays on the net. and actually discouraging the current behaviour that EVERYTHING goes on youtube. If they truely don't know how google and youtube analytics work THAT is what you SHOULD be teaching them.
oh... and also, as a parent of 3 teenagers, and have a 79 year old mom i stand behind my point... and will go further to say, you are naive how much people actually know about the internet.
but hey, thanks for letting me vent. and i apologise, as i do not know you, i have only formed an opinion based on random posts on the internet... but maybe that is my point, that i would hate to see your star student sitting in an interview one day for that dream job, and have his interviewer bring up this vid and ask... so what is this all about?...

Your choice mate but you are acting like a student who is everyone's mate not a professional who is building your own career and protecting your life and interests. My students submit a large majority of their course work via social networks such as youtube, as video, vocational evidence they can perform the task they are being assessed for. I do apologise though there was no slate left and we ran out of fairy dust when you were born.

I am sorry but it was only Easter that some guy posted a link to his 6 year olds painting for Easter, with the names of entrants and his own personal Facebook account visible. Everyone voted including me.
I agree it's different posting a students of mine youtube video, however I cleared it with him first, never divulged my username (i know it's identifiable if he ever came here and searched for the posing) I didn't divulge the site name, and on top of all that a huge thing you are missing, I know him. I know and have met his parents I know what approach gets the best academic work out of him. This keeps getting overlooked
