This is a link post OTT Hyperlapse Movie I made this!
I made a timelapse with NO tripod and a phone camera. I call it "pro-lapsing".

You take photo, move a few paces, take another photo, move a few paces.. Repeat till old. Then you can use "warp stabilizer" on the image sequence in After Effects, or just manually line the pics up to a landmark. It does look much better with a DSLR and a tripod.
