This is a question Broken Promises

Thebigfella tugs our coat and says: Are you a LibDem minister, a cheating partner, or maybe you have an annoying friend you can't be bothered with? Tell us of promises you've broken, or if you've been on the receiving end.

Massive drugs
1. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
2. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
3. We will comprehend the word serenity.
4. We will know peace.
5. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
6. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
7. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows.
8. Self-seeking will slip away.
9. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change.
10. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.
11. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.
12. We will suddenly realize that GodMassive Drugs are doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

It did do most of those things for a couple months.
Then I went a bit mental.

God I miss the early 90's.

Very hyperbolic
But not altogether wrong. People's attitudes towards themselves and others do seem to be changed profoundly for the better by their first MDMA experience.

But yeah, then you just start gurning your arse off every weekend for the fuck of it and anything of value goes out the window.

I also judge people differently if I know they've tasted the rainbow
but they're being stupid or selfish or whatever

Unfortunately as with most things
So it is with the more mentally interesting psychotropics. You only get what you bring. Wherever you go there you are, as someone said.

Also, sometimes it doesn't matter how much you have learned of PLUR, we all find ourselves being selfish and lazy and greedy from time to time. Not enough 5HT2A receptors in the world to stop that.

After the 5th time of trying to read that and only getting at most to the 4th 'we' bit, I give up.

A poem
Down the neural pathways
In the black hole of the mix
Where wild endorphins copulate
"There'll be no politics

No greed, no war, no hunger
Only general ecstasy" -
The rhetoric has hardly changed
Since your dad took LSD...

Not by me - in fact I'd love to know who wrote it (and find out how the rest goes). Anyone know? Could be Roger McGough, perhaps?

Bill w
Wow! Last place I expected to see the 12 "promises"

Been there, did it for 7 years. What a disappointment. After 7 years I couldn't stand that the real promise was that you'd be the last man standing Ina sea of dysfunctional numptys all avoiding their abuse and mental health issues. I could comprehend the word mindgames and the word getthefuckouttahere !!

Got professional help and now even drink moderately.

Promises schmomises !!

Did u know bill w was on hallucinogenic drugs when he had his spiritual awakening ? And now "millions of people" have recovered following his lead!?!?

Cult, numpties, massiveDrugzleader

Die AA die !!!!

Of course he was hallucinating he was withdrawing and pumped up with God knows what in Towns Hospital
Dr Bob wasn't though ;-) Keep it simple.

7 years later AA isn't about meetings, it's about helping another alcoholic - the trouble is that doesn't work if you take up moderate drinking.

Ooooohhhh, I wrote a poem about pills as well.
I said 'Nice one, sorted, pukka, sound, I'll do you a pill for fifteen pound.'
I said 'Nice one, sorted, pukka, sound, pop this baby you'll be of the ground.'
I said 'Nice one, sorted, pukka, chill, can you sort me out with another pill?'
'cause if you want it; I've got it, and I'm always around.
I'll do you an ounce for fifty pound.
I went to a rave, got out of my face.
I did ketamine, it was fucking ace.
Fuck me man, you're really hardcore.
I can tell from here, you know the score.

*hangs head in shame, and gets coat*

I'm an alcoholic narco fiend athiest
How the fuck do I get sober if one of the steps involves believing in a magic sky fairy?
(, Tue 7 Dec 2010, 6:12, closed)
Paradoxically
it's all about reducing self will. When it comes to knowing what the right thing to do is, alkies are far better off trusting a magic sky fairy than using their own judgement, alledgedly.

Incidentally this step came this step came from the Psychiatrist Carl Jung - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Jung. One of the founder members of AA was under him for a year when Jung suggested that spirituality might fix him

you might what to read this chapter:
www.healtalk.com/public/chapter-4.shtml

if it doesn't make sense you are probably lucky enough not to be an alcoholic
