I've been trying to save money for the past few weeks by not buying alcohol. I've now drunk pretty much everything normal in the cupboard and am left with some chocolate wine, a bottle of limoncello shaped like a shoe,
some vile looking vanilla flavoured 'Mayan' booze my sister brought back from Mexico and a bottle of 100% alcohol I bought in Cyprus.
Trying to decide which to drink, bearing in mind I have work tomorrow.

you know what,
i prefer mobile links, they don't bring my browser to a crawl with all the unnecessary bunkum the full desktop page tries to send.
I used to think, back in the day, that there should just be one URL and it should detect and render appropriately. The problem with that approach is that they always assume you've spent a grand on your PC within the last 6 months, like the person who designed the page obviously did. As opposed to the 8-year-old low-end PC that i actually use.

When done well reactive design is definitely the best way to go about things.
I know what you mean though. My netbook is unusable for browsing the web these days. And that's with adblock and ghostery blocking lots of nonsense.
It's also got fewer horizontal pixels than my phone in portrait.

it should be done server-side,
at least partially, i have a javascript blocker and the amount of ostensibly text-only content that just won't even appear is astonishing.
and then there's the stuff that demands to set cookies for no obvious reason
someone's 1000-word blog post is now a bigger download than the full text of War and Peace

Yeah I gave up on no script because it breaks everything.
I think things like angular build the entire dom in Javascript.
I'm not 100% on this but the cookies stuff could be just down to the webserver, tomcat will set your session id in a cookie as soon as you make a request unless you force it to fallback to url rewriting, which is worse.

trying to get media to play is a bit like defusing a bomb sometimes,
it's a bit of a pain in the arse but it's a choice between some things not working, and some other things not working, so...
i don't really feel i need a session id just to read plain text content. unless i'm logging in somewhere or putting things in a shopping cart, cookies can go do one. i discovered Google set an evercookie on my work PC, i was furious. i consider that essentially hacking.
