# THIS CANNOT BE!!!!
There's a fucking whale in the Thames too!

FUCKING!!!!

WHALE!!!

Also, there was something earlier which gave birth to this but I don't find it worthy of it's own thread:

# FIGHT!!
is windows 7 any good? i need to upgrade to 64bit, but i don't want to be a guinea pigs for microsoft while they sort out the bugs.

# I think honestly
ANd I am saying this as a Mac user;

That ANY new OS release is not something anyone should just jump onto immediately. I know alot of us here use the Adobe suite and other layout programs and NOTHING gets my chuff more than shelling out FUCK ALL for cash on programs needed for work only to have them immediately be obsolete once you get the "Latest" OS.

I've LITERALLY had that happen to me. One day they all worked and the next (after upgrade).. "Oh.. sorry, you're fucked.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:06, archived)
# Same here!
OS 10.5.8 totally screwed Illustrator and Photoshop CS so I had to upgrade (I tried going backwards to 10.5.7 and managed to disappear half of my e-mail and iTunes - still recovering from that!)
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:29, archived)
# RIght bastards when they do that
innit?

# I joined the "Happy Mac Family" in 1985
been suffering through random funky upgrades ever since!
still better than windoze, mostly...
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:53, archived)
# Agreed!
Alls I was saying is... it's 6 or 1/2 dozen of the other. They EACH blow when they upgrade, for one reason or another.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 19:05, archived)
# i just upgraded to the x64 version of windows 7
And so far i must confess that i am fairly impressed. Feels light and streamlined and functions very well.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:07, archived)
# Hmm...
nice!

# Just upgraded to Win7 on this laptop
you don't get Outlook Express any longer so I'm running Mozzilla Thunderbird instead and it doesn't like some anti-virus programs.

Other than that it's pretty nice - but I can't help thinking it's a rip from Mac's OSX and not as pretty.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:28, archived)
# Huh...
How is it a rip? The two have always had similarities...

It REALLY remains to be seen in the coming months, I suppose.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:31, archived)
# Well as far as designwise the OSX is far nicer looking
this is probably the best Windows so far without doubt but it still lacks umph! - I can't be more technical that now :D
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:33, archived)
# Yeah, it is actually
it's nice and smooth and runs quite well and means you can have 45binary-shit-tons of RAM and actually use all of it.

Though I've just bought a mac, so fuck windows :D

(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 17:36, archived)

# I think it's terribly funny
when people with multiple PhD's and years of experience fuck up a program that cost Billions and took decades to plan because... well, because that's how the world is...
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:36, archived)
# in this exact case
the program was a resounding success and the crash was fully intended.

what i like is when people with phds and years of experience don't check if things are in centimetres or inches and splatter probes across the surface of mars. or when bearded west country people with phds and years of experience launch a satellite in a blaze of publicity and don't give it big enough parachutes, so that it, too, splatters across the surface of mars.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:43, archived)
# SO what you're saying here
is that they always forget to carry the one?
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:49, archived)
# or divide by 2.54
but that's understandable because no-one knows long division anymore

# Well it's not like he's friendly...
always skulking about...

We ask him all of the time: "Hey, LD! We're headed to pub, care to join?"

He just looks at us with that stare of his.. you know...

but don't take the harsh replies to heart. We've all been there, and all had it dished out to us.

# I'm quite sure a subtle gaz to a mod may help there
I'm expecting invasion from one quarter or another, be nice ot see if people can actually let it go or not, and
perhaps do something calm and rational rather than get heated up - at.the.internet.
I'm fully expecting it to crash and burn, as with the collaboration thing, but it'll be funny to see if anyone trashes it, as I'm sure they will. Still, thought that counts, eh?

# define flaming though
people thought i was shouting at Moley earlier when all I was doing was suggesting he lead by example.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 17:48, archived)
# I think it's a case of 'biting one's tongue'
and actually thinking through a reply first, trying to perceive how it might get viewed before clicking 'post'
Common Sense, no 'definitions' needed.
lack of use of the word 'cunt' is a given though

Has there been much flaming recently? I thought it has actually been on the wane a little.
Or maybe I just haven't been around at the right times.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:19, archived)
# I thought
that we decided this a LONG time ago.

THat we WOULDN'T flame, because we didn't want to see this place go down that dark and inescapable road that so many other of these types of bards have gone down...

But I am glad we still remind, as the original and the best :D

Now with that.. FUCK OFF YOU CHEAP NONCY SLAG!!!*
(*added for fun)

edit: Bards... I almost like that...
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:20, archived)
# hahaha, personally speaking
I haven't visited as much as I normally would in the last few months,
mainly through work, but also because the 'c*nt' calls and flaming gets really tiresome, and is quite prevalent. Plus some new people don't bother coming back after an 'over the top' flaming session, which is a shame.
Just thought this was a tongue in cheek way of seeing if people could be nice for a day on here, and you never know, it might encourage good posts and images to get more replies than a typcially 'flamed' one, which would really be something ;)
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:24, archived)
# Well I gather it's up to us anyway
to keep it the way we want.
(, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 18:28, archived)
