This is a question Bad Ideas

"Let's get all the fireworks and pile dog shit on top of them". I can't believe I actually said that, and I still can't believe I was the one who lit them and couldn't run away in time. Tell us about your spectacularly misjudged ideas.

Dragging the B3ta QOTW feature out for this long
Here's the number of posts for the previous 532 topics since Dec 2003. Notice a trend? Scrap it ffs. There are some old timers on here including myself who think it should've been switched off after FrankSpencer stopped posting rather than turning it into the internet's answer to Last of the Summer Wine.

You don't like something = scrap it.
Sorry son but you are outnumbered by those who still want to contribute. I never understood this regular complaint on here when if you don't like something there is no effort whatsoever involved in avoiding clicking on it. If you've given up footy and you are walking past a knock about do you tell them they should stop because you don't want to play any more?
BTW you're not an old timer. The members who have decided to maintain QFTW are old timers.
hth.

I've been here even longer than you, so appaprently that makes me more right.
It needs to be put out of its misery, now.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2014, 17:36, closed)
Don't see the connection that you're labouring to make between membership time and being right.
The OP mentioned his and now you've mentioned yours. Please note I haven't.
If in your opinion it's shit here then may I suggest a few ways to go.
1) It's shit, so don't read it. Leave it to those like me who are far less discerning.
2) It's shit, so don't add to its shittiness by filling the board with shitty posts complaining about how shit it is.
3) It's shit but it didn't used to be so give us some fine examples of the style of posting that isn't shit so that we may learn how to turn it back into a not-shit board.
There's three of you at the top of this message so surely between you we can expect an informative and interesting answer.

can i ask us all just to pause for a moment,
and reflect on the main issue, which is that this lonely, lonely man has collated information from 2003 onwards and made a fucking graph to prove some sort of horribly laboured point.

this is autism with bells on.

Very, very, very much this.

I regret coming back.
I used to like it on here, but I stopped visiting and posting last year. I've not seen the decline as it's happened, so it's all the more jarring how shit it's become around these parts. And I'm too out of the loop to go back on /talk. I miss that.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2014, 16:50, closed)
/talk hated you anyway.
;p
(, Thu 24 Jul 2014, 17:01, closed)
Yeah, but it was amusing hate, and isn't that the real love?
The answer is no

It's all my fault, apparently.

Must be, after all JMG's not here to blame...

Most of the time the Vault is the only thing worth looking at on here.

Says the bloke who's now signed up for the 632nd time just to be abused.

Oh I dunno. Dr Shambolic must take a fair proportion of the blame.

I'm the only reason half the people on here post at all.

(, Thu 24 Jul 2014, 21:09, closed)
Hah. I was thinking of doing that
but I'm too lazy.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2014, 17:21, closed)
it needs to be kept going as a monument to scaryduck's failures as a Moderator
and as a human being
(, Thu 24 Jul 2014, 17:32, closed)
/boards has been going through a similar decline.
The whole thing should be kept as an example of what happens when you let a once-decent site fall into decline and neglect.

Which question was the huge spike near the beginning?
Maybe it should be that question every week.

If only there was some way you could scroll to the end of the qotw page and find out ...

you take this way too seriously m8
Also, having a lower user number doesn't mean your opinion is any more valid than anyone else's. If you don't like qotw any more don't visit it.

Or kill yourself, whatever works best for you.

The Guardian does QOTW now
and it does it much better: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/series/openthread

Perhaps some of our regulars might like to try their luck over there. I believe the Guardian has mods who actually read their own site.

I must be bored this morning...
I clicked that (after checking it wasn't horse related) and the top article: "What have you done with your life since a 2012 solar storm nearly wiped us out?" made me chuckle...I read the subhead as "coronal mass erections"
