Fuck that shit.
So the UK GDP is down 0.7% more half a percent more than expected. So who's fault is it?
Well it's the governments obviously, but who should be blamed? I think the Queen.

Anyway I'm shocked and saddened to notice not one of you has asked me how my home brew stout is yet. It's like you don't care about ME

Rivers of blood, Chompy. Rivers. Of blood.
How's the beer, then?
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:14, Reply)
Really nice, so nice instead of having a "test" bottle I had that and then 4 pints.
Still smells a bit like bananas though, but I think that's just all the Coopers Ales.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:16, Reply)
How much is all the kit?
Just asking, you know....for a, ah, friend who is a bit skint.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:19, Reply)
You can get a kit with everything you need for about £60+
but bare minimum.
You need 25L bucket =£10
Syphon =£5
Bottles= free if you recycle
Bottle caps =£1
Bottle capper =£5-£15
Beer kit = £10-£20
Sugar = £2
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:24, Reply)
Then you just need more bottle caps, beer kits and sugars when you use them up.
Each beer kit makes up to 40 pints, but you'll probably get more like 36 unless you like scum on the bottom
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:25, Reply)
I would recommend this
www.tesco.com/direct/diy-beer-starter-kit/213-7435.prd?skuId=213-7435&pageLevel=
I'd also recommend splitting the cost with a mate because after the second batch you'll have more beer than you can drink.

I know, it's tough, but currently I have two cases of beer in my airing cupboard.
Two on my shelf and another 23 litres of IPA to be bottled at the weekend.

But I know what your accent is like so my brain is ignoring the insult and trying to find the question you just asked me?

(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:26, Reply)
Brewing my own stuff is something I should probably consider, would save me money in the long run.
Have you tried Budvar Black? I tried it recently, absolutely excellent.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:34, Reply)
See link up there, that's £70 for 40 pints
You'll need patience though. Can take a couple of months for it to get to its best.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:35, Reply)
Hmm, something worth considering over Christmas, possibly.

(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:37, Reply)

I've no idea why they publish this data when they haven't actually got the final figures
It's a bit like going "and, with 15 minutes to go, Team A are beating team B by 1 goal to nil, so let's leave it there and update the league tables!"

Arseholes, all of them. In any case it's entirely due to contraction in the construction industry, isn't it?
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:48, Reply)
Service down 0.1%
Manufacturing down 1.3%
and construction down over 5%

So it's not just construction but that's a big chunk.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:51, Reply)
Leave Bobby out of this!

(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:57, Reply)
which is down because this time last year it was building a fuckton of olympic stuff, I assume?
recession's just a word. It's not as if these industries are suddenly losing money.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:58, Reply)
Well it's a sign that as a country we're making less money than we were the previous quarter.
It's not just a word, they don't make it up and unfortunatly a recession hits that wonderfully vague thing "confidence" and it will slow investment.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:04, Reply)
Only because - how can I put this - people are fucking idiots.

(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:30, Reply)

but it's hot and I'm too lazy to read. So, does it taste nice?
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 10:59, Reply)
It's very nice, I am pleasantly suprised. I was expecting drinkable, not "oooh I'll put a few more in the fridge now"

(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:00, Reply)
I've recently realised that the apple trees in my garden
a) aren't crab apples
b) have a SHIT TONNE of apples on them.

What are the chances that making cider wouldn't go terribly wrong?
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:05, Reply)
easy
You will need:
Apples
Juicer
Sieves and muslin cloth
Funnels
Tubing for syphoning off
Demijohn & airlock
Campden tablets (to kill the yeast)
Yeast of your choice
Finings to clear the liquid
Bottles to store it in
A hydrometer to measure specific gravity and hence alcohol % is useful
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:07, Reply)
uh
on that list I only have apples
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:10, Reply)
Then you can make....
apples!
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:12, Reply)
I made it once, messy but easy.
See if you can hire an apple press for the day they're fun.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:08, Reply)
I shall consider it
maybe jam would be easier
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:10, Reply)
Apple jam?
I suggest blackberry and apple crumble, best of all the crumbles
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:12, Reply)

(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:17, Reply)
I think I'd have to have an apple party
to use up the apples. Crumble, cider, jam. Whatelse does one make with apples? Although thinking about it, perhaps they'll all just get eaten by wasps
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 11:15, Reply)
Fry in butter with sage leaves to have with a pork steak/chop

they put that screen up specially for it. 3 years ago. I always assumed it was so we could all stare and point at it when it was announced aliens had landed.
