Flesh & Steel -making of Robocop
After someothercunt here posted the Warriors doc the other night , I went on a nostalgiathon. Hadn't watched Robocop for about 20 years, but fuck me , it's absolute gold.
This is probably glassius cockus but SO WHAT, oh btw, I bought it on iTunes but I think it may be a slightly tamed down version on the apple stall.

I found out a few weeks ago that one of my dearest chums has never seen loads of classic films.
Indiana Jones
The Thing
Robocop
He hasn't seen any of them. This weekend whilst our wives are on some road trip, we're going to watch classic films, get drunk and eat steak. I can't wait.
Sadly, he's seen Predator though

Really?
I found the scripting of BF:6 to be sublime, whereas BF:7 just ran with every tired, old cliche that they could muster. The production values were lacking, as you could easily tell it was a Holiday Inn Express, not the rented condo in Malibu from BF:6. Lastly, BF:6 gave a nod stylistically to everything from "Old Man and the Sea," to "Finnegan's Wake." BF:7, I believe, was simply made to quickly cash in on its predecessor's success.

The points you raise are nothing i haven't heard before.
I think i understand BF:7 on a deeper level than most, i don't know, it just speaks to me in a very personal way.
I did like BF:6 but i thought the ending was too predictable, him telling her he was her father was completely preposterous also, that kind of ruined what had been an enjoyable watch up until that moment.

oh, how smug
actually, several experts have suggested that keeping passwords in an anonymous exercise book (the label is removable) in the home is quite a goood idea, rather than in data form on your laptop.
This is mainly because the type of burglar who ransacks homes is generally not a computer hacker, and they don't steal exercise books, as the heroin value of a used exercise book is fairly limited. Savvy users might identify a trustworthy password manager app to install, but for Joe bloggs it's a low risk solution

Gosh, if only there were some way of easily circumventing such monitoring
Some kind of way of preventing the camera from viewing the room.
Some sort of method that would mean that it would only see a creamy-beige colour until I wanted to use it.
Turn it to point at the wall perhaps?

Permaculture, farming of the future.
Reading the lamentations of Rob about a barren, environmentally raped future, I'd like to get this idea out there. The first few moments of this, nearly 2 hour, video show photos from the Bealtaine Cottage Permaculture Gardens in the West of Ireland, and outlines natural soil fertility systems. Though it's going to take more than just watching video, it's using what life has been using before humans ever picked up a tool.
Crops aren't threatened by CCD either, it's the wild honeybees that no longer pollinate the crops that make the economic impact. Now that has to be taken care of by the managed colonies. I worry about natural pollinators we don't manage, like bumblebees, which are being threatened by a beetle from sub-Saharan Africa here in the USA, and Australia.

How many acres of land will each person need in order to grow their food?
Unless we're going to have a cull of the human population mass concentrated farming is the only way to feed them.
Which shouldn't be a bad thing if done right.
Also where can I get the robot labourers to look after the land whilst i'm working?

Nothing wrong with a little cottage garden.
Highly optimistic to be able to completely feed yourself, but you can certainly supplement what food you do have with a little plot and the satisfaction that you grew it yourself.

An acre would be luxury
I've got about 50m2 and do grow a bit.
However there are certain crops that should not be grown by amatures.
Potatoes and tomatoes for example are prone to a highly contagous blight that can spread to other plots.

Chinese Farmer Makes His Own Bionic Prosthetic Hands.
"Sun Jifa, from China's northern Jilin province, lost both his hands when a fishing explosive went off prematurely in his home nine years ago.
Eager to get his hands back, Sun spent the next eight years crafting his own steel bionic pair from scratch with little direction but his own intuition."
He's now making and selling them to other amputees at a price far cheeper than the hospitals.
Give that man a hand.

Well:
He only started dabbling once it became necessary to replace his arms, basically when he lost them, and replace them with something suited to farming, with the need being to continue to farm so he could support his family.
It was only afterwards that people started to come to him to ask for replacements for themselves, i don't think he expected that to happen, he just wanted to be able to continue to be able to work and support his family, now he seems to be even better off.
Fair play that man.
