This is a normal post So,
A mass economic system where a central group pay for the population to have electric, heat, water, transport, healthcare, welfare, buildings, technology, education etc.
The population demands more.
So they borrow money to do it. Then have to pay interest on that money. Which is how loans work. The population that needs the services pays for it through taxes.
It might not be the most fair system as those providing the capital to borrow stand to gain the most. But they are the ones that allow the system to work. Without the guys at the top it would all fall apart.
Is there a better way that would work to cover millions of people on such a huge scale?
I'm all ears to alternatives that could actually function in a modern world.

but then there are probably a lot of technical innovations that only happen because we are continually making new stuff. After all, life itself uses planned obsolescence and thats how evolution happens. Big window model. I stuck a 69 Camero 327 in it, because it was free, and the old straight six was dead. It just sits, taking up garage space now. But I really do love that old thing. It's amazing what you can mix and match on those American vehicles. The old '55 four speed tranny bolted on to the newer Camero engine.

The v8's although slightly more complex than the straight sixes I've always found to be more fun and easier to get bits for. A lot of vehicles shared parts back then. Plus things were really built to last. A lot of the stuff on this car is 50 years old but works fine. Stuck a battery on and all headlights, brakelights, indicators etc work. bonkers.

This is a normal post Me old man loved a tinker with this sort of thing
He once rebuilt an Austin Metro engine to go in a gutted Morris Traveller van, literally to see if he could; AND stuck an overdrive on the gearbox for a laugh. His vision was for it to outpace something (anything) at the lights, and to see their faces. It never came to fruition, but it's good to see the spirit of endeavour is still in fine fettle. Good work lads!

Loads of fun when overtaking. When I bought that one though, it's a good thing I thought to check the cylinders before I tried to fire it up. There was a load of rust in them, but strangely I couldn't see where it had all come from. I was fortunate enough to get one that didn't have the "reinforced" plastic timing wheels; I can only imagine what sort of idiot thought that was a good idea.

All in all it was a bit of a frankenstein car: Triumph suspension parts, Ford engine, door handles from a Mini, Jag seats and god knows what else. Still had bloody Lucas electrics though; the devil's own wiring harness.

It's a shame I had to get rid of it in the end, those cars always reminded me of the world's most stylish hearse, and those fold-flat seats made the boot just big enough for two people to bunk down.

This is a link post Appearance of coffee shops vs increase in rent
An interesting insight (though not comprehensive) as to localised rent increases after independent coffee shops appear. Seems to eb a work in progress, but given yesterdays shenanigans quite appropriate.

petrol bomb the local coffee shop and get a rent reduction, that's right isn't it?

Thanks pseudo-science

This is a normal post but with the remorseless cuntification of the area you will never be able to afford the petroll for the petrol bomb and another thing have you any idea how much it cost now to buy a syphon round there?
would be seen dead with a bit green hose in there mouths franticaly sucking of cars untill the mouths are full, and antother thing with out using smokless fuel you will breaking many and varied loal authority by laws and could end up with a nasty smack on the wrist, so maybe a placard with a catchy slogan but for gods* sake make sure you do a risk assesment first dont wany any stingy paper cuts.

*other gods and deitys may not exist either
