Specifically the one along the lines of "if they don't go it alone, should Scotland be given more money for staying in the Union at the expense of all British taxpayers?". Everyone seems strongly against it... apart from the Scottish.

Ok, neither does a piss poor reskinning of Counter Strike...
when you are trying to criticize Koon's use of other artists to achieve high quality production. By creating a poor looking visual experience on his own he is only emphasising how Koons work benefits from 3rd party involvement. This kids idea may well have been far more impressive if he'd hired someone with more skills in UDK, ZBrush etc.
Also blowing up virtual artwork and killing art gallery curators does little to tackle the issue of a specific cabal of art price fixers. There are many art galleries run by perfectly decent curators, so tarring them with the same brush and inviting people to blow them up with rocket launchers doesn't address the issue at all. Perhaps he was too scared to name actual names or didn't even bother researching that side of things.
Having read the description on his website I cannot see anywhere where the point of it being a first person shooter is mentioned.
I personally quite like a few bits of Koons work, the metal balloons look great, but their "value" is not something that troubles me, people pay silly money for silly things all the time.

Fantastic assessment!
I agree. The critique I posted as the second link is a far more cogent analysis of Koons' work and his status as a preeminent artist of our time.
I did find it amusing that the kid took a populist medium (video games) and tried to juxtapose it against Koons' own "found object" approach to recontextualizing banality. There's something both cathartic and pointless about virtually blowing up the pieces in the gallery – not dissimilar to how some viewers experience Koons' work in real life. Having to pay a quarter (a paltry amount) to do so, heightened my amusement.
Overall, I think Koons' biggest critical supporters seem to have missed the point of the postmodernist critique of the museum and gallery structure. It's as if artists like Gorilla Girls never existed.

Why don't the older/newer buttons work properly when viewing /links? Is it just me?
If I look at the links page, I see 19 links. If I click on the "older" link, I would expect to see posts 20 onwards but, instead, I see 23 onwards so I miss 3 posts. If I then click "newer" I see posts 4 to 22.. Whatupwidat?

And whilst I'm complaining, what the fuck has happened to the newsletter? :( Is rob died? Too busy with that site? Too spluffed up on narcotiwhelks?

I think he ditched here a long time ago
Guess that a paid job, even when your employer is the daily mirror, is better than running this for just Pact coffee.

But the newsletter gets tons of views
and deliveries, and he had a section for UsvsP@ct, surely leading to clicks (not from me, my short form of 'versus' is 'v', thank you very much).
But hey, a man's got to feed his kids. As long as /links and /board are still around I'm happy.

That theme-tune might dislodge my earworm.
I've had "I've Never Met A Nice South African" in my head since before lunch.
