That's actually quite beautiful and clever
but I got bored reading the text when it said, 'I shot it on a Canon ID MkIV in video mode...'

As I think I said last time it was posted
It's a great idea poorly executed. Shrinking the aperture on that fantastically expensive lens he used would have had two effects:
Bringing the Moon into focus as well as the people.
Exposing the Moon properly.

Tut, tut. You elitists who don't like people doing a great job of something.
You can read the whole story about the video here: markg.com.au/2013/01/full-moon-silhouettes/
Pay attention to this bit: "...The moon is actually in focus, as the focus on the lens was set to infinity, but looks soft due to the effect of atmospheric refraction..."

Rookie mistake
Setting the focus to infinity doesn't result in the Moon being in focus as all lenses and camera bodies have slight imperfections meaning the focus may well be in front of or behind where you think it is. A better solution is to manually focus in live-preview mode. You'd be surprised how much sharper you can get it.
Now, about the over-exposure...

If you're going to do that,
can you at least put it on pastebin.com so it's not spamming up the board?
Think of the scroll wheels.

interesting because all of the people listed

I have no problem with it, and think gays should have the same legal status as a married couple however....
the actual made up bullshit of marriage by the church, was in the days it was created, for man and woman. THAT is marriage, that is what it means. A homosexual union should be called something else, as marriage, as I say, invented by the church for men and women, is just that. You cant call a cheese sandwich a ham sandwich because its 'pretty much' the same. Marriage as a word means man and woman, that is that. A civil partnership with exactly the same rights as a marriage should be fine. I dont see how the church, that owns the churchs cant say it wont do the gay services. Its their house, their rules.
I neither know nor care to be honest, but does seem the church are being forced to change something they invented, and forced to do it in premises they own.

The 'Church' would like you to think that
it invented marriage, but it did not. Marriage existed before the 'Church'. The 'Church' should not be allowed to dictate who can and can't get married, just as it should not be allowed to dictate any aspect of the lives of people who are not part of that particular religious establishment.

The change won't be forced on any church though.
A wedding in a Registry Office already isn't recognised in the eyes of religions so there's no real change for them.
EDIT: 'them' being churches, not homosexuals.

My best friend is a woman, yet I can't get changed in the ladies' changing rooms, is that fair? Obviously I can still get changed, no-ones stopping me doing that, but I want to do it in a different room!
You ARE in the same club, you just used different doors. It's a non-issue. Your friend has all the same rights you do, can legally enshrine his relationship in the same way as you, it's just called something different because it is something different. Grow up and find a real issue to get het up about.
edit: we have such a rich language that we often have 5 or 6 words that can describe the same thing. On principle I reel from the idea of intentionally reductive acts of changing one word so it now means 2 things.

sorry, so what is the point?
the Bill will allow homosexuals to get married in religious ceremonies, subject to these religions/places of worship consenting. This will change the definition of the word 'marriage' unneccesarily. All major religions condemn homosexuality. It will confer no further legal rights than a civil partnership.
What did I miss?

The
Point
EDIT FOR FLIPPANCY: equality is not having the same rights, but having to use a different door to get them.
Segregation is about putting people into neat little groups... gays, straights, married straights, partnered gays, even if those people have the same rights, its still fucking segregation.

that's not segregation, that's accepting that different entities are different. Do you want to dilute and distil everything into one homogenous mass?

What a lot of people are missing though
As my gay mates have said, those that have been civil partnershipped are now inferior to those that can now get married, in their opinion. They dont actually care, its a union and declaration of their love they are showing. I still think the gay one should've had a cool name, and be held in a disco church fetish club cathedral to make the straight people jealous and demand the right for non same sex fantastic civil partnerships.

i think its a shame that a two their system has come out of that...
but i'd argue the civil partnerships was a flaccid concession in the first place...
a civil partnership, should have been a genuine alternative to marriage; i.e. available for heterosexualls too.
or they should have gone further the first time and said "yep, gays can have an actual marriage too"

no I'm knot
you said that going through a different door, as long as you get to the same place is okay...
I'm saying its the essence of segregation.
My dyslexia is stronger than my spell checker... its a whole other level when you use the right spelling just the entire wrong word!
EDIT:
your quote: "You ARE in the same club, you just used different doors. It's a non-issue. I'd argue the water fountains point again, and i'm interested how you think that segregating people over the water supply, is different from "one door for you, one door for them"

okay, my analogy was perhaps unbrilliant.
To clarify my point:
I don't see how enabling homosexuals to have religious ceremonies in religions they by definition cannot be part of (unless they are celibate) is an effective use of parliamentary time.
The Civil Partnership bill was a laudable step forward, this one is a jump in the air and landing on exactly the same spot.
I don't know any gay couples who refer to themselves as 'in a civil partnership' anyway, they all refer to themselves as married. I imagine you could find a less urgent piece of legislation than this, but I imagine you'd not find many.
( , Wed 6 Feb 2013, 12:10, Share, Reply)
i don't know,
equality is a real issue for people who are currently being serrated... it does my head in, that if me and my misses get married, that until recently my gay-friend could not also have a marriage (an approximation is not the same)
personally i'd rather have seen it go the other way, IE make civil partnerships available to straight couples, and then we could vote with our feet about marriage... but equality is important, and very important to me.
I don't want to be part of an organisation that won't allow my best friend in it... it just doesn't seem right.
the fact that parliament have made a balls up of taking an ideal to implementation doesn't surprise me... and the fact that cameron will do this to appease the lib-dems, is also irritating,
but I think its a bit much when people in a non-segrated demographic say "who needs this equality!"

They were being denied the right to get married!
If a "Civil Partnership" or "Civil Union" or whatever it is called really is the same as marriage, then why is it not called marriage?
If it is different, which it is, then people who want to get married to someone of the same sex are being treated differently. This is discrimination and a denial of rights.
Why are you so keen to deny something that some people want, when it doesn't affect you in anyway at all?
( , Wed 6 Feb 2013, 12:01, Share, Reply)

I'm not keen to deny anyone anything, and this bill won't give anyone anything, other than being able to say they're married (which they already do) and occasionally having the ceremony in a very small selection of CofE churches.
edit: on reflection, I withdraw my opposition to the changing of the definition of marriage. But this remains a petty bill with petty objectives and a shameful waste of parliamentary time.

yes
they have a right and a choice to vote no, so they did. Thats fairness. Whether you agree with them or not, its their choice.

Erm
Arent they supposed to be voting with their constituents interests at heart?
So it's not technically thiervote or right to an opinion

Not sure, I wouldn't have thought so..
But thats applying the same logic as voting for a government, I dont expect the government to make decisions that only benefit me or people in my town.
Besides that, an MP's town is made up of thousands of people, unless you have a referendum for every vote you'll never be sure and even then youre going into realms of social fact. Im sure church groups and LGBT groups would have been emailing or talking to their MP....as for it not being their vote....as a Member of Parliament thats exactly what it is, if you want to do it different run for MP. No offence like...honest.

I don't expect the government to make choices for my town
But I do expect the politicians, knowing what their constituents want, argue for a solution which benefits the majority of people in this country, or at least follows their overall ideals

Which was the outcome of the vote, with a majority...
...if you expect 100% of politicians/constituencies or the population to agree with a particular point of view you're misguided* a democracy will always show yes and no votes for various reasons personal/political or social, a democracy works by taking a vote from these areas and going with the majority opinion.
Focus on the outcome rather than an individuals opinion, lambasting politicians for having a differing point of view is a little petty.
I would very much doubt any politicians would have voted "no" because of an outright or hidden agenda against homosexual people...its an opinion....it doesnt mean that the people that voted "yes" are right...now the bill faces further scrutiny, nothing has changed....yet.
* yet you seem sensible and polite enough its obviously something you feel very strongly for, which is fine. Im coming from an opionon that really doesnt give a hoot, and absolutely no offence is meant by that.

oh yeah, i should say,
that i'm happy with the outcome, i was just unsure about the "politicians have a right to an opinion" angle... i was arguing that specific point...
for me the interest lies in the averages... i.e. how many people on the street would have voted the way the tories did... would the percentages still be the same...
and i've got loads of work to do, and having a debate feels more fun:)
EDIT: ps, thats the only time anyone has ever could me sensible and polite... so thank you for that x

....because of proportion of total labour MPs vs Tory, or due to bellicose disposition of Red Tony's cronies?

Now see here, M.Ps are enititled to vote how they chose and if they don't reflect the wishes of their constituents they'll be voted out.
I'll have to support Mr Cameron in his brave choice in going against the wishes of his party and I do hope he'll be supported for leader at the next hustings.
If in the unlikely case then someone else will just have to step up to the crease...

Noisia - Devil May Cry Soundtrack
All the tunes from the album are available to listen to on youtube if you fancy a bit of loud music for tonight. Reminds me slightly of Amon Tombin's work when he produced the album for splinter cell, but a bit more grittier..I actually quite like it,I wish my speakers were better and I could hear it properly instead of it going fuuzzzz in places...

Black Vauxhall registered T160 MEY near miss of cycling group
A friend was out cycling at the weekend (not the one on the recumbent) in a group of cyclists, when a few of them were nearly wiped out by above mentioned car. What a twat.

He probably did it because he was frustrated and pissed off by the twat (illegally) riding two abreast
And then pulling out into the middle of the road far too early causing an unnecessary hold up.
Not making excuse for him, what he did was dangerous. But cyclists seem to put all the responsibility for safety onto car drivers and its annoying.

Isn't overtaking on a junction illegal?
as that car does.
As a cyclist myself, I always wonder why people ride 2 abreast, I like to be as small a target as possible, which is not easy being a fat bastard.

Also as a cyclist
Generally I prefer to ride single file, but sometimes find that almost encourages drivers to squeeze past when there is oncoming traffic. If you appear to be a small target they will take advantage of you. Riding two abreast has the effect of stopping cars over taking by squeezing past, and means they can/should overtake only when they have no oncoming traffic. I can see why at times this would be inappropriate, but I think in this case their road positioning was entirely appropriate.

how many cyclists were there behind the camera one?
it's quite possible he started overtaking them all on that large stretch of road before it was clear any were turning, and once he was committed he continued.
Besides, the highway code clearly states cyclists must ride in single file on a bend/corner so they'll all at fault anyway.

It wasn't a bend or corner, it was a straight stretch, and not unreasonably they wanted to turn right.
Clear signalling, checked back before moving out, and some of the group had already crossed the junction. The driver wasn't committed to continue, as to do so involved driving through the group. There is no justification for this.

the start of the clip is clearly a bend in the road
perhaps if we had the whole footage we could make a clearer judgement on how long the cyclists had been blocking cars for.

I don't understand your stance on this.
Ahead cyclist had already signalled and were turning. The Vauxhall drove through them. Regardless of how long they had or had not been slowing the driver down, what makes their journey so important they have no choice other than to drive through a group of cyclists at some speed it appears.

just being devils advocate
at the very start of the clip they are not single file despite it being a bending busy road, nor are they indicating.
I'm not denying the car misjudged its attempt to overtake the large group, but there are contributing factors evident.

Not defending the car driver for a moment.
But I notice when they do make the turn, many of them enter on the wrong side of the road, including the camera guy. So do we all stick to road law or all ignore it?

I hear what you're saying
But the road they are turning into, as seen in the final couple of seconds of the video, is extremely narrow. Any vehicle turning into it will be hard-pressed to avoid encroaching on the give-way sign painted there.

Oh and also
I don't actually think the car comes that close, this all looks blown out of proportion to me. Just a common case of an impatient driver overtaking, something I hardly even register now.

Bikes no longer come with brakes
so the thought of using them to avoid certain death is a no-goer. Also, with the added bonuis of every cyclist being on a collective period as soon as the rubber hits tarmac, does make for the case aCaC

As a bus driver let me professionally say Fake and Gay.
We have to use the Smiths keys (not Morrisey luckily) to ensure we are always looking out for hazards such as this. No Driver is just going to be clipping along at 30+ without watching what's in the road. I could understand if they just walked out but they stand there having a debate then a bus hits them. Does Hollywood really think bus drivers are this stupid? It really is quite patronising and a complete film cliche.
You're more likely to get run over my a 4x4 or a cyclists than a bus.

We have to use the Smiths keys (not Morrisey luckily) to ensure we are always looking out for hazards such as this. No Driver is just going to be clipping along at 30+ without watching what's in the road. I could understand if they just walked out but they stand there having a debate then a bus hits them. He's a hoot!
Not quite sure if he was sneakily part of it though, the space he slots into doesn't seem symmetrically matched on the opposite side. If he is a stooge though that was splendid acting.

^^ this - when it was unexpected...it was borderline entertaining (depending on what it was) when it was original...now it is tired and depressing.....
