This morning my wife and daughter started yelling, so I went downstairs to see what was up.
They pointed at a sock and said it was buzzing. Tentatively, I picked up the sock and indeed, it did buzz angrily when I shook it. I opened the back door and carefully turned the sock inside out. Nestled in the heel was a small bee, having 40 winks. It must have climbed in the sock when it was on the washing line the night before.
I left the sock and bee on the windowsill and went inside to get my camera, but when I got back the bee had woken up and flew away.
There are a million stories in the big city. This has been one of them.

I read that story.
It was a science fiction short story, and except for being a robot instead of a globby thing, that was the plot. And it was famously illustrated by Kelly Freas.
which he then copied for an album cover.

Refuses to turn on. Dig through the documentation Apple doesn't want you to read and you find it's either a RAM issue or a CPU issue. Their engineers are advised to yank the CPU and check none of the pins are bust. Great - if they weren't before they probably will be after that.

Unfortunately true
I'm typing this on a Macbook Pro and I've liked the machines I've had, but the overzealous worship that goes into so much of this is frankly alarming. Apple make nice computers - so do Sony, and so do Toshiba and HP at the higher end of their ranges.
That said, I wouldn't mind one of the Core i7 Macbook Airs for when I travel. I travel a lot and I like the idea of a computer that's actually faster than my MBP, weighing 1.5kg less. Though with the work I do the SSD might be fucked with weeks. Hmmm. This might not be as good an idea as it first looked.

To be fair it is seven years old now
but even so :( It might just be a couple of RAM chips buggered in which case life is easy. If it's the CPU I may as well sell it back to Apple for the enormously generous £30 they'll give me.

I would invite them all to a pool party.
I would put them all in a big room with an indoor pool, seal all the doors and then fill it to the ceiling.

Hey, you're a links person!
Would you like to come to my pool party?

what i don't get, is we have people who post here
exclusive /talk boarders
exclusive /links boarders
and even people who post exclusively in /qotw
but we don't have people who only post in /calendar

but we don't have people who only post in /calendar
why?
it has replies to events,
qotw never used to have nested replies and people still used it

Hah, I remember when they complained when they first got nested replies, sowhichever dev took it off.

The functionality was still there, if you just changed the parent number in the reply link.
So you could troll them with nested replies and they'd get reet angry and stuff.

I quite like /links; people are generally nice there and the board provides a useful function.
Nevertheless, you have done a naughty.

Sorry, couldn't listen to more than about 30 seconds of that.
Much like 'City'. I tried to like that album, god how I tried.

Alright mongy
slightly creepy news here mate, I actually dreamed about you last night.
You told me, "I've just learned what JDGDG means: Just Dutch Grass, Dutch Grown". You were smoking a blunt made with a nasty cheap cigar.

You showed me a little bud speared on a safety pin.
I said, "Cool, thanks!" but it was obvious from your expression that you were just showing me, not offering it to me.
So I thought, ok, let's have some fun with this, and I was saying, "That's really generous of you mongy, what a great gift".
