great stuff
smashing blog, when i see old wizzer and chips stuff like harry's haunted house it makes me realize how much of an influence those old comics had on my drawing style.
not a lot of books and art in my house when i was growing up , but always loads of comics.

There's a "Best of Whizzer and Chips Annual"

i used to read and re-read those comics
looking at how they drew everything and it totally influenced my style.
anything from BIG comic, monthly and fortnightly, buster, even beano and dandy really, I loved seeing how they were printed and stuff. I then moved on to old copies of oink! and now read Viz, it's funny how similar the drawing styles are in all of them. I'm sure if i did the research, there would be people who drew for most of them.

Oink was short-lived, wasn;t it?
There was a record stuck to the front of the first one. Can't remember what the song was on it but I remember doing a sads when I lost it..

i saw a complete set for sale on ebay for about £15, put a bid in, within minutes the set was withdrawn and sold individually for a bout a fiver each...
some of the contributors to the mag make for a good read, including lard from mark & lard. it was marketed as a viz for kids.
and yes, the oink song and the oink rap, found here:

It's always a shame when someone is killed by stupidity
Not that I have any sympathy with them. It's just incredibly frustrating that 99% of these fuckheads are just bored kids in dead-end Midlands towns who have virtually no understanding of their own religion's dogma and even less of its history, or the history of the region. It's fun and exciting and completely different from the mundanity of their everyday lives. And then they end up killing people, and then dying themselves, without know why...just because they're so so fucking thick.

The photo of the spider next to the hand is misleading
since the hand is far behind the spider and it was shot up close with a wide-angle lens, further exaggerating the real distance between the spider and the hand.
TL;DR: Gake*
*That photo. Not the spider. The spider is massive and can get te fuck.
