Me too
I got rid of my VHS for a stupid reason and never replaced a lot of them. I had a massive horror collection. Ahhh, the good old days of getting banned videos from record fairs, 2 films for a tenner on one tape.
Kids have it too easy these days and all that.

Die Antwoord giving an interview out of character (Yolandi Visser and Watkin Tudor Jones)
Nothing exceptional but it was nice to see them out of character. Such lovely young people.
Yolandi looks kind of fit without all that bleach as well.

Yeah
This is still "in character", just in different characters though. This incarnation is just, as seen, a much more straight-laced, businessy guise.
Somewhere between Max Normal disbanding and reforming as Max Normal TV they also released an album under the name The Constructus Corporation which was a sort of futuristic sci-fi, comic-booky concept album (a little bit Deltron 3030). Some really great tracks on it.

I buy all my camera gear from shops
sometimes online. Amazon isn't the cheapest option by far for expensive camera gear, and Jessops wasn't competitive by any measure. Their shops were generally badly stocked for my needs. So I would just shoot down to Burges Hill to a shop which does have everything I would want to take a look at, or buy from them online.
The internet was not at fault here

I'm being a massive hypocrite.
I bought a refurbished Pentax through a third-party seller on Amazon Marketplace about a year ago. They threw in a second lens, a few lens hoods and a spare battery and it still cost 100 quid less than a new one.
I guess the fact that they had a shop somewhere goes a little way to smoothing over my conscience. I just think that most people only go to stores now to see what they like the look of, then go home and buy it online, even if it isn't much cheaper.

When your high street is like mine with more charity shops than commercial big boys its not too bad a reality until the charity shops price a well worn shirt for £6.00 when you can get two from primarni for £7.00.

I'm a big fan of charity shops
but I do wish they'd stop pricing things according to what similar items are listed as on ebay and go back to pricing them according to what some little old dear thinks they might be worth.
The PDSA wanted £6 for a Klaus Wunderlich album the other day, which is madness!

Most of the stuff was really old and cost more than similar in most shops brand new.
Really catering towards hipsters by the look of it.

I haven't found the normal Oxfam to be particularly so.
Sometimes they have a few things in i like and sometimes they don't, matter of luck really.
Oxfam Originals on the other hand is ridiculous in what they charge for supposed 'classic' clothes.

Still. I think they have become aware of what people will pay on, for instance, ebay. A lot of ebay stuff comes from charity shops. People go round looking for bargains to sell on. So I don't blame them for doing it.

if you are tempted
make sure you do your research first.
About 6 months ago, I bought a new lens and I went in to Jessops. Not only were they more expensive than the internet price (unshocker) they were nearly £150 more than London Camera Exchange.
LCE were still £10 more than buying (new) online by the time I'd included postage, but they were able to give it to me there and then - so they got my business.
I'm willing to bet that if any local Jessops stores are selling off stock cheap (rather than shipping it all back to a warehouse and flogging it through their online operation) - they still won't be significantly cheaper than buying it elsewhere.

(not all of it of the Pete Townshend variety before you ask), so I've got a good idea what a fair price is. I'm not short of other options either - Park Cameras is a five minute diversion from my daily commute.
I've bought kit from Jessops before, but only because they had it in stock at around market rate.

They succeed where Jessops failed though
The last Jessops I went to just came across as a shop full of point and shoot muppet cameras with the occasional entry level DSLR, and not a lot more, other than cheap, wobbly tripods you'll hate the moment you spent thirty quid ever buying. It shocked me more Jabbobs died first

B&H are great online
I would never go back to the shop. Trust me, it's a nightmare. They have a very strange production-line ethic to the way they run the shop. It is busy beyond your wildest dreams, the staff are unhelpful (or too busy), the layout is insane and the queues are profound. Also, I needed to go back to exhange on tiny bit of a fortune's worth of equipment we had bought, and it was extremely difficult to find anyone willing to help. On the plus side, they have a LOT of stuff.

Slightly off topic, but...
I had my camera stolen in Berlin last July (worth 2k). The police took a report saying it would be, obviously, very unlikley I'd get it back. To cut a tl;dr story short, my company managed to track the my colleagues laptop (also stolen) to an address in Germany and the cops busted the house. My camera arrived via courier today, in perfect nick. Big up the Polizei.

For future reference though, how was it stolen? Just because mine's a bit pricey and I'm fucking paranoid about this sort of thing.

I was filming at a private music event in a fancy club...
At the end of the night, when nearly everyone had left, I went to the van to get all the flight boxes and when I got back my camera had disappeared. It's very rare that I leave anything unattended, but I had a false sense of security. They must have just grabbed the tripod and sauntered out. My specialist insurance refused to pay up because there was no forced entry. Furthermore, the twats refused to cancel my (expensive) policy even though I no longer had any equipment. On the plus side my company helped out by paying me overtime to cover it, plus I have my camera back now.

it has on the engines,
but on the coaches it has twin-axle bogeys shared between one coach and the next. Which is quite odd. I believe the Eurostar is based on it as well, but I can't find a picture.

I don't like it either.
I thought this video was funny though, i normally just turn off when it gets to the self-promotion stuff at the end.
Simple really.

There's something heartwarming about reading a good rant.

YouTube went to shit as soon as they allowed videos to be annotated
I reflexively turn off comments as soon as I start any video as they're invariably begging you to subscribe. I want to turn them off by default but there doesn't seem to be a way.

I've noticed that, start a video and sometimes the screen is just full of links to stuff.
Sometimes the whole screen is one, you don't realise and click to pause it only to be carted off to something else.
